Alberto Lusignani
The Alberto Lusignani farm is a wine-producing estate in the Colli Piacentini, in the area of Vigoleno, a hamlet of Vernasca, where the Emilian hills meet the Stirone River Park. Its identity stems from a long history of farming, which began after the Second World War and gradually shifted towards viticulture from the 1970s onwards, with a strong connection to the slopes rising from the plain towards the fortified village of Vigoleno. In this setting, soils shaped by the local geological formation, the hillside exposures and the winemaking traditions of Piacenza combine to produce wines with a distinct, recognisable terroir character.
The producer operates within the Colli Piacentini appellation, with a particular focus on local grape varieties and the region’s historic wines. Vin Santo di Vigoleno is one of the estate’s most distinctive wines: it is made from native grape varieties such as Santa Maria and Melara, with smaller proportions of traditional Piacenza varieties, through a process involving the drying of the grapes, late pressing, fermentation and lengthy ageing in small wooden barrels. This method, rooted in ancient traditions, produces an intense, amber-coloured, sweet and complex wine.
Alongside maintaining continuity in production, Alberto Lusignani demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and viticultural biodiversity by participating in regional projects dedicated to the enhancement of local genetic resources, the resilience of vineyards and low-impact agronomic techniques. The result is a coherent approach, rooted in the local area, the traditions of the hillside terroir and research applied to viticulture in the Emilia region.
