Alessandro Moroder
The Alessandro Moroder Winery is set against the backdrop of the Conero landscape in the Marche region, on a hillside in Montacuto, near Ancona, where Monte Conero slopes down towards the Adriatic Sea, imbuing the wines with a strong sense of place. The estate has its roots in a long agricultural history, but its contemporary character is linked to the promotion of Rosso Conero and the quest to fully understand the Montepulciano grown in this coastal area.
The terroir is one of the key elements of the winemaking process: the vineyards grow amongst limestone, clay soils and sandstone, in a landscape characterised by Mediterranean scrub, abundant sunlight and sea breezes. The proximity to the sea contributes to a distinctive microclimate, which fosters rich yet balanced ripening, with crisp aromas and a natural saline quality. Montepulciano is the flagship grape variety, produced under the Rosso Conero and Conero appellations, whilst other traditional varieties round out the winery’s viticultural profile.
The approach is geared towards organic viticulture and careful management of the raw materials, with grape selection in the vineyard and winemaking processes designed to preserve the connection between fruit, soil and climate. The wines express structure, depth and Mediterranean warmth, whilst retaining a distinctive Adriatic character: reds full of character, enveloping yet well-defined, which portray the Conero as a place where hills, woods and the sea meet.
