Barattieri
Barattieri is an Emilia-based winery based in Albarola di Vigolzone, in the Piacenza area, set amongst rolling hills where the vines interact with the Val Nure and the Colli Piacentini appellation. Its identity stems from a long-standing family tradition and a production philosophy focused on interpreting the terroir through a blend of local and international grape varieties, whilst maintaining a recognisable and consistent style. The vineyards benefit from favourable soils and south-east-facing slopes, conditions that support balanced ripening of the grapes and produce well-defined wines, capable of combining structure, freshness and aromatic clarity. The winemaking approach directly oversees the key stages of the production process, from vine cultivation to harvest, and from vinification to bottling, with a focus on the raw material and stylistic consistency. A distinctive feature is the connection to the more traditional winemaking methods of the Colli Piacentini, particularly those used for wines made from dried grapes, where extended ageing periods, maturation in wood and time-honoured practices contribute to intense, harmonious and deeply terroir-driven expressions. Overall, Barattieri represents a historic voice in Piacenza’s wine scene: a winery deeply rooted in the hills of Emilia, capable of showcasing the local agricultural culture with a style that is solid, elegant and true to the landscape from which it originates.
