BioVio
BioVio is a Ligurian agricultural and wine-growing enterprise based in the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, in the Albenga area, where vine cultivation coexists with a landscape of hills, olive groves and Mediterranean crops. Its identity is closely linked to an agricultural understanding of the territory: vineyards cultivated in sunny, often terraced settings, and soils of clay, iron-rich and limestone composition help to define wines with a strong local character. The key appellation is Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, with particular emphasis on grape varieties such as Pigato, Vermentino, Rossese and Granaccia, which embody the winemaking tradition of western Liguria.
Organic farming, which has been certified for many years, is one of the most recognisable aspects of BioVio’s identity. The approach in the vineyard prioritises respect for the natural balance, care for the vines and attention to the quality of the raw material, in line with a viticultural philosophy that regards wine as a direct expression of its terroir. In the winery, winemaking is geared towards preserving varietal character and territorial precision, using techniques such as gentle pressing, controlled fermentation and carefully calibrated ageing, without compromising the identity of the grape varieties.
The wines’ style combines freshness, savouriness and Mediterranean notes, with aromas that can evoke aromatic herbs, citrus fruits, flowers and the Ligurian scrub. BioVio thus stands out for its consistent, recognisable production, which is deeply connected to the agricultural landscape of western Liguria.
