Bricco dei Guazzi
Bricco dei Guazzi is a Piedmontese producer with deep roots in the Monferrato area of Alessandria, based in Olivola, in the hills near Casale Monferrato. Its identity stems from a direct connection with a historic wine-growing landscape, where the tradition of winemaking is an integral part of the local culture and engages with a contemporary interpretation of the raw material. The producer places particular emphasis on grape varieties deeply rooted in the region, with a focus on Barbera and Albarossa – a variety that perfectly embodies the spirit of both Monferrato and the wider Piedmont region, thanks to its genetic link to Barbera and Nebbiolo.
The vineyards are situated in a hilly landscape characterised by marl-limestone soils, with tuffaceous components and areas where clay and iron contribute to the complexity of the grapes. The aspect, the slope of the hillsides and the natural ventilation promote even ripening and healthy fruit, whilst the depth of the soil helps the vines to thrive even in dry conditions. The result is a style that seeks a balance between structure, freshness and aromatic finesse.
In the winery, the approach prioritises precision and expressive consistency: controlled fermentations, carefully calibrated macerations and ageing processes designed to complement the character of the grape varieties without overpowering them. The wines of Bricco dei Guazzi thus convey a recognisable, solid and measured expression of Monferrato, capable of combining the energy of the terroir, historical roots and a modern winemaking sensibility.
