Cantina Giba
Cantina Giba was founded in the heart of the Sulcis region, in south-western Sardinia, in an area where the Carignano del Sulcis DOC is one of the most distinctive hallmarks of the island’s wine-growing tradition. The producer’s identity is closely linked to the vineyards of Giba and to a vineyard-covered landscape shaped by the proximity of the sea, clayey and sandy soils, and natural conditions that endow the grapes with a strong sense of place. Carignano is the key grape variety for the reds and rosés, produced as a single-varietal wine and celebrated for its depth, Mediterranean character and continuity with the Sulcis tradition; alongside it, Vermentino represents the winery’s white wine range, offering a clear and consistent expression of the Sardinian climate. The winemaking philosophy focuses on selection in the vineyard, hand-harvesting and processes designed to maintain the link between the raw material and its place of origin. The careful use of ageing and cellar techniques supports the aim of combining a sense of place with contemporary precision, without distancing the wines from their natural roots. The result is a recognisable style, based on single-varietal wines, an expression of the fruit, a Mediterranean character and a deep connection to the Sulcis region, with wines that directly reflect the oenological character of this part of Sardinia.
