Cantina Tramin
Cantina Tramin is one of South Tyrol’s historic wineries, based in Termeno, a place intimately linked to Gewürztraminer and its most recognisable expression. Founded in 1898, it embodies a highly complex wine-growing landscape, where the Alpine environment meets milder influences from the south. The vineyards are spread across slopes of varying altitudes and exposures, forming a mosaic of microclimates that allows for a precise understanding of the grape varieties and individual plots.
The area around Termeno is characterised by significant daily temperature variations: cool night-time breezes from the mountains alternate with the warm Ora wind from Lake Garda, promoting full ripening and the preservation of aromas. The soils, comprising limestone, clay, gravel and porphyry, help to produce wines with a distinct profile, rich in tension and character. In this environment, Gewürztraminer finds particularly favourable conditions, developing aromatic intensity, structure and a natural, balanced freshness.
Cantina Tramin’s winemaking approach emphasises care for the raw materials, the selection of vineyards and precision at the crucial stages of the growing cycle, from canopy management to the grape harvest. The style of the wines prioritises expressive purity, depth and territorial consistency, offering an interpretation of South Tyrol that combines mountainous character, aromatic richness and a contemporary sensibility.
