Casale della Ioria
Casale della Ioria is situated in southern Lazio, in the heart of the Ciociaria region and within the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG area, between Anagni and Paliano. Its character is deeply rooted in a hilly landscape where vineyards, woods and olive groves coexist in an environment characterised by a distinctive microclimate and a long history of agricultural tradition. The central role of the vineyard guides the production approach: vine care, low-impact techniques and hand-harvesting are all aimed at preserving the integrity of the grapes and bringing a raw material that truly reflects the terroir into the winery.
Cesanese, particularly in the form of Cesanese di Affile, represents the very essence of the winery’s identity and complements other local grape varieties such as Passerina and Olivella, the latter being celebrated as a historic variety of the region. The vineyards, situated in a hilly landscape on sub-acidic, partly clayey soils, produce wines with a distinct regional character, combining aromatic intensity, structure and a recognisable Lazio identity. In the winery, the approach favours simple and rigorous winemaking techniques, taking care not to distort the grapes’ original profile; stainless steel and wood are used to achieve balance rather than to overpower the wine. The result is a style centred on fidelity to the grape variety, the depth of the fruit and an authentic expression of the Ciociaria wine-growing region.
