Cascina Ca' Rossa
Cascina Ca’ Rossa is a winery in the Roero region of Piedmont, based in Canale, amidst a landscape of steep hills between the Turin plain and the Tanaro river. Its identity stems from an agricultural context in which vines have historically coexisted with other crops, and is expressed today through a precise understanding of the region’s most representative grape varieties, in particular Arneis, Nebbiolo and Barbera. The vineyards are situated on high hillsides, with predominantly south and south-west-facing slopes; these conditions favour careful ripening and require a significant amount of manual labour, contributing to a strong link between work in the vineyard and the character of the wines. The presence of plots in recognised areas of the Roero, including Valmaggiore, Mompissano and Le Coste, reinforces the link with a designation characterised by diverse soils and microenvironments. From an agricultural perspective, Cascina Ca’ Rossa follows a certified organic approach, focusing on soil vitality, the measured use of treatments and practices such as green manuring. In the cellar, the approach combines stainless steel, small oak barrels and large casks, guided by choices designed to respect the raw material and the grape varieties. The result is a terroir-driven style that highlights the finesse of Arneis, the structure of Roero Nebbiolo and the fruity expressiveness of Barbera, whilst maintaining a recognisable connection to the landscape of its origin.
