Cascina Castlet
Cascina Castlet is situated in Costigliole d’Asti, in the Asti hills of Piedmont, in an area central to the production of Barbera and Moscato. Its identity stems from a deep connection with the vineyards clustered around the farmstead, set on gentle, well-exposed slopes, in a landscape characterised by clay-limestone soils and marl of Pliocene origin. This setting, combined with the microclimate of the 45th parallel, offers natural conditions favourable to viticulture that successfully combines fruit ripeness, freshness and a distinct sense of place.
Agricultural work prioritises constant observation of the vineyard and respect for its balance, with practices that include manual work at crucial stages and careful management of grass cover. SQNPI certification confirms a commitment to integrated production, the traceability of raw materials and greater environmental awareness. Alongside the grape varieties most representative of the Asti region, Cascina Castlet takes a particular interest in Uvalino, a historic variety linked to Costigliole d’Asti and the subject of a conservation and promotion project.
In the cellar, stainless steel, oak and ageing rooms with a naturally balanced temperature allow the grapes to develop without straying from their origins. The wines’ style emphasises character, clarity and distinctiveness: the Barbera expresses energy and depth, the Moscato retains its fragrance and balance, whilst the local varieties reflect a consistent exploration of the balance between agricultural heritage and contemporary sensibilities.
