De Stefani
De Stefani is a Veneto-based producer with links to two complementary wine-growing regions: the hills of Refrontolo, in the historic Conegliano Valdobbiadene area, and the eastern plain of the Piave Valley, between Treviso, Venice, the Adriatic and the Dolomites. The documented origins in Refrontolo and the continuity of production dating back to the nineteenth century define an identity rooted in an understanding of the terroir and the promotion of the region’s grape varieties. On the hills, the UNESCO-listed setting and the clayey soils locally known as ‘creda’ promote even ripening, water balance and wines with a full-bodied character. In the Piave area, the sediments left by the river, the abundance of clay, the breezes between the sea and the mountains, and the daily temperature variations contribute to distinct, expressive profiles, with structure and depth. The winemaking approach favours a natural philosophy, mature vines, high planting densities and a focus on indigenous grape varieties, with the aim of translating the personality of each individual terroir into the wines. The winery interprets the Veneto region through an approach that combines technical precision with respect for the raw material: fermentation and ageing are designed to preserve varietal identity, the energy of the fruit and the wine’s potential for development. The result is a recognisable style, capable of balancing aromatic finesse, savouriness and intensity, whilst maintaining a clear connection with the appellations and the wine-growing culture of the Piave and the Treviso hills.
