Elena Fucci
The Elena Fucci winery is closely linked to the Vulture area, in the northern part of Basilicata, and in particular to Barile, in the Contrada Solagna del Titolo. Here, Aglianico del Vulture finds an environment with a strong sense of identity: vineyards overlooking the landscape of Mount Vulture, an ancient extinct volcano, with soils characterised by pozzolana, lapilli, ash and clay components. The hillside elevation, the seasonal alternation of sun, rain, snow and winds, and the volcanic nature of the soil all contribute to a raw material capable of expressing depth, tension and a mineral character.
The agronomic approach highlights Aglianico del Vulture as the key grape variety, utilising traditional local training systems, organic management and green manure practices. Hand-harvesting and grape selection underpin a production approach that prioritises the precision of the raw material. In the winery, winemaking seeks a balance between the integrity of the fruit, tannic structure and freshness, with controlled maceration and ageing processes designed to complement the natural vigour of Aglianico.
The style of these wines is characterised by intensity, aromatic depth and a sense of terroir. The most representative expressions combine a ruby colour, spicy and fruity notes, savoury character and a solid yet progressive structure. Elena Fucci interprets Vulture in this way, using a clear style centred on the recognisability of the terroir and the Aglianico grape’s ability to convey personality, balance and a long finish.
