Fattoria Monticino Rosso
Fattoria Monticino Rosso is a producer from Emilia-Romagna, based in the hills of Imola, near Dozza, at a crossroads where the landscape and wine culture already look towards Romagna. Its identity stems from this natural and stylistic boundary: on the one hand, the Emilian tradition; on the other, the Romagna region’s penchant for still wines that are full-bodied and strongly influenced by their terroir. Operating since the mid-1960s, the winery has built its reputation around the grape varieties that best reflect the Imola area, in particular Albana, Sangiovese and Pignoletto.
The hilly landscape, with its favourable exposures and soils capable of lending depth to the raw material, supports a production approach focused on distinctiveness rather than standardisation. Albana plays a central role: the Romagna Albana DOCG appellation finds one of its most significant expressions in the hilly region stretching from the Imola area to the Cesena area, and here it is also interpreted through extended ripening and careful selection of the grapes. In some dry expressions, the presence of noble rot helps to define complex, taut and savoury wines, capable of combining aromatic richness with freshness.
Among the reds, Sangiovese reflects the more direct character of Romagna, with profiles that emphasise fruit, texture and a clear expression of the terroir. Fattoria Monticino Rosso thus stands out for its consistent style, rooted in the Imola hills and their pivotal location, where native grape varieties and a sensitive approach to winemaking combine to produce wines with a distinct territorial character.
