Fattoria Nicolucci
Fattoria Nicolucci is a historic winery in Predappio Alta, in Emilia Romagna, with deep roots in the tradition of Sangiovese di Romagna. Its identity has its roots in a hillside village in the Forlì Apennines, where vine cultivation has been documented for centuries and where the interplay between the vineyard, microclimate and soil clearly defines the character of the wines. The producer has been in operation since 1885 and maintains an approach consistent with the local tradition, centred on a classic Sangiovese, free from stylistic fads and focused on reflecting the character of Predappio.
The surrounding landscape is characterised by hills dotted with old vineyards, poor, limestone-rich and stony soils, as well as the historic presence of sulphur mines, which contribute to the area’s geological and cultural heritage. In this context, Sangiovese finds a distinctive terroir, supported by natural conditions that favour wines with character, featuring a clean, robust and terroir-driven profile. Alongside the central role of Romagna Sangiovese DOC, the link with the Romagna appellation also extends to Romagna Trebbiano DOC, confirming a winemaking tradition deeply rooted in the region’s grape varieties and appellations. Fattoria Nicolucci thus represents a historic voice of Predappio Alta, capable of interpreting the local winemaking tradition with a restrained style that is distinctive and faithful to its land of origin.
