Fattoria Zerbina
Fattoria Zerbina is situated in Marzeno di Faenza, in the Ravenna area, in the hills of Romagna, where Sangiovese and Albana play a central role in reflecting the character of the terroir. The winery was founded in 1966 and operates in an area now part of the Marzeno sub-zone, a designation that helps to define the origin of the most representative Sangiovese wines with greater precision. The winery interprets Romagna through a viticultural approach that takes into account the variability of the vineyards: soils, microclimates, clones, mass selections and rootstocks are all considered factors capable of profoundly altering the expression of the grapes and the balance of the wines.
The Sangiovese is vinified with the aim of reflecting the character of the vintage and the individual plots, with vineyards also trained using the alberello method and winemaking choices that alternate between stainless steel and oak depending on the raw material. The result is a structured yet dynamic red wine from Romagna, often characterised by red fruit, spicy and earthy notes, pronounced tannins and a savoury element that underpins the depth of the palate. Alongside Sangiovese, Albana plays a defining role, particularly in passito wines and in the work with noble rot, which highlight the distinctive character of the Romagna Albana DOCG appellation. Overall, Fattoria Zerbina embodies a distinct, recognisable and nuanced expression of the Romagna hills, sensitive to the subtle variations within its own vineyards.
