Ferghettina
Ferghettina is a Lombardy-based producer based in Adro, in the heart of Franciacorta, where the morainic hills to the south of Lake Iseo define a wine-growing landscape with a strong identity. Founded in the early 1990s and linked to the place name from which it takes its name, the winery interprets the appellation through a approach centred on the raw material and an understanding of the different plots. The territory benefits from the glacial origin of its soils, rich in sand, silt and morainic materials, and from a climate tempered by the influence of Lake Iseo, with breezes and temperature variations that promote balanced ripening.
In the vineyard, the focus is on preserving the integrity of the land, using practices that comply with organic standards and have been certified since 2017. The grapes are considered the essential element of the wine: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are carefully monitored and harvested by hand, whilst the separate vinification of the plots allows the differences between varieties, soils and microclimates to be brought to the fore.
In the cellar, the time spent on the lees is central to the wine’s stylistic expression. Ageing is conceived as a slow and precise process, in which contact between the wine and the lees contributes to aromatic complexity, texture and depth. Technical innovation is also evident in solutions designed to enhance this interaction during maturation, whilst maintaining a focus on finesse and balance. Ferghettina’s Franciacorta wines thus express a distinctive character, based on freshness, crisp fruit and a close connection to the hills of the appellation.
