Feudo d'Ugni
Feudo d’Ugni is an Abruzzo-based producer rooted in the hills at the foot of Mount Majella, in a setting where viticulture meets a vibrant Apennine landscape, characterised by altitude, significant temperature variations and soils capable of imparting tension and depth to the grapes. The winery’s identity centres on the concept of an essential, terroir-driven wine, based primarily on Abruzzo’s iconic grape varieties, Trebbiano and Montepulciano, complemented by less common varieties that contribute to a personal interpretation of the terroir. In the vineyard, the approach is manual and respectful, with minimal intervention and reduced treatments, aimed at ensuring the health of the grapes and preserving the natural balance of the vines. The same consistency guides the work in the cellar, where winemaking prioritises simplicity, careful management of fermentation and the measured use of sulphur dioxide. Vinification may include skin contact even for the whites, whilst concrete, steel and wood are used as subtle tools, without overpowering the character of the fruit. The result is wines with a recognisable character – direct and vibrant – in which the expression of Montepulciano retains its body and vigour, whilst the Trebbiano displays a more tactile and savoury dimension. Feudo d’Ugni interprets Abruzzo through an artisanal, instinctive and consistent approach, highlighting the relationship between the grapes, the landscape and the winemaking process with a sensitivity deeply rooted in nature.
