Fratelli Alessandria
Fratelli Alessandria is a historic winery based in Verduno, in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont and at the northern edge of the Barolo area. Its identity is closely linked to this village, near the River Tanaro, where air currents, the hillside aspect and the calcareous-clay soils of Tortonian origin all contribute to defining wines that are recognisable for their finesse, balance and a characteristic spicy nuance. The continuity of production, documented as far back as 1830, is reflected in an approach that prioritises local tradition without neglecting a careful assessment of each individual vineyard.
The vineyards are mainly located in Verduno, with some also in Monforte, and are cultivated with a clear focus on indigenous grape varieties. Nebbiolo is central to the character of Barolo, alongside Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa, Favorita and Pelaverga Piccolo, a rare variety that thrives particularly well in Verduno. The decision to work exclusively with grapes from our own vineyards strengthens our direct relationship with the raw material and allows for winemaking that is true to the grapes’ origins.
In the cellar, the approach remains measured and respectful, with the aim of allowing the character of the grape varieties and crus to shine through. The style of the wines combines structure and aromatic clarity, polished tannins and a natural elegance, portraying Verduno as a place of precision, depth and subtle spiciness. A focus on sustainability forms part of this vision, as a responsibility towards the Langhe’s vineyard landscape and its long-term preservation.
