Gioacchino Garofoli
Casa Vinicola Gioacchino Garofoli is a Marche-based winery deeply rooted in the region’s winemaking history, with its origins dating back to 1901 and a history that has run parallel to the evolution in quality of local wine. Its identity has its roots between Loreto and Castelfidardo, in the province of Ancona, and finds one of its most distinctive expressions in the hills of the Castelli di Jesi – the historic home of Verdicchio – alongside the Conero area, where Montepulciano plays a significant role in the region.
The landscape in which it is produced is typical of the Marche region, shaped by hills sloping down from the Apennines towards the Adriatic, with soils of medium texture or looser consistency, good sunlight and natural protection from sea winds. In this environment, Verdicchio develops a distinctive character: freshness, savouriness, balance and the ability to evolve without losing its aromatic clarity. The inclusion of Montepulciano in the Conero range rounds off the producer’s profile, linking it to the tradition of red wines from the Marche region.
The production philosophy combines technical innovation with respect for traditional winemaking methods, whilst paying close attention to the raw materials and the distinctive characteristics of the region. The voluntary adoption of the Marche Region’s Integrated Production Code confirms an agricultural approach focused on protecting the vines, the environment and the consumer. The result is a balanced and consistent style, in which the decisions made in the winery support the expression of local grape varieties and the cultural continuity of viticulture in the Marche region.
