Isole e Olena
Isole e Olena is a leading name in Tuscan Chianti Classico, born from the union of two small rural villages and rooted in the San Donato in Poggio area, in the western part of the appellation. Its identity is shaped halfway between Florence and Siena, in a hilly landscape overlooking the Val d’Elsa, which maintains a strong continuity between the vineyards, agricultural history and a contemporary interpretation of the territory. The vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from around 300 to 480 metres, with predominantly south and south-west-facing slopes and soils composed of limestone, galestro, marl and sandstone – soils typical of Chianti Classico that produce clean, deep and well-balanced wines. Sangiovese plays a central role in the estate’s winemaking, alongside traditional local varieties such as Canaiolo, in an approach that seeks purity, freshness and precision without sacrificing complexity. The winemaking approach emphasises manual labour in the vineyard, careful observation of the vines, maintenance of the terraces and a constant relationship with the environment. In the cellar, choices focused on balance prevail: fermentations designed to preserve the clarity of the fruit and the terroir’s identity, and ageing processes that complement the wine without overpowering it. The result is a style recognisable for its elegance, tension and harmony, in which Chianti Classico is interpreted with fidelity to its historical roots and with an artisanal sensibility focused on defining the terroir.
