Jermann
Jermann is one of Friuli’s historic wine producers, with roots dating back to 1881 and an identity forged between Villanova di Farra and Ruttars, in the Gorizia region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Its understanding of the territory stems from the interplay between two complementary areas: the Collio, with its hills on the border with Slovenia, and the Isonzo, an alluvial plain to the south of the Collio. In Ruttars, the landscape is characterised by ponca, a stratified soil of marl and sandstone, benefiting from a mild climate, the protection of the Julian Pre-Alps and the interplay between Adriatic sea breezes and cooler winds. In the Isonzo, on the other hand, the alluvial soil, the gravel and the sea’s temperature-regulating influence contribute to wines of balance and aromatic finesse.
Jermann’s wines are particularly recognisable for their focus on white wines, crafted with technical precision, agricultural sensitivity and a constant pursuit of elegance. The winery’s philosophy prioritises balance, clarity of expression and respect for the grape variety and its terroir, with the management of raw materials geared towards consistent quality. Environmental commitment is an integral part of this vision: the protection of biodiversity, careful agricultural practices, the use of green manure and organic fertilisers, the avoidance of chemical herbicides and the promotion of natural balances all form part of a modern production approach that is deeply rooted in the Friuli region.
