Köfererhof
Köfererhof is a South Tyrolean wine producer with links to the Isarco Valley and the Novacella landscape, near Varna, in an alpine setting where viticulture takes place on terraced slopes at high altitudes. Its roots date back to 976, making the estate one of the region’s historic wine-growing estates, but its current identity is defined above all by its specialisation in white wines and its ability to clearly convey the character of the valley.
The natural environment is crucial: a mountain climate, long winters, late ripening and marked temperature variations between day and night favour grapes that ripen slowly, with fresh, taut and aromatically precise profiles. The mineral soils and microclimate of the Isarco Valley contribute to wines with a vertical character, in which finesse, juiciness and salinity are recurring traits. The proximity to the Dolomites and the cool valley floor environment reinforce a highly recognisable Alpine character, far removed from any excess of opulence.
The winemaking approach emphasises the work in the vineyard and the care taken with the raw materials: the grapes are harvested by hand and handled gently, with the aim of preserving the varietal characteristics and the terroir. The result is a refined and precise style, centred on elegant, mineral and dynamic white wines, which consistently express the Isarco Valley’s aptitude for fresh, deep and well-defined mountain wines.
