La Colombera
La Colombera is a Piedmontese winery based in the Colli Tortonesi, in the Tortona area – a region on the border between Piedmont, Liguria and Lombardy, where the vines thrive amidst a landscape of hills, woods and slopes. Its identity is particularly linked to Timorasso, a native grape variety of the Tortona area that has been at the heart of a major programme of revival and promotion launched in the 1990s. In this context, the name Derthona evokes the ancient name of the town of Tortona and serves as a key expression of the link between the grape variety, the soil and the place of origin.
The vineyards are situated on soils characterised by alternating layers of sandstone and clayey marl, with limestone and tuff deposits that help to define wines with a pronounced mineral character. The viticultural approach prioritises direct care of the vineyard and respectful management of the soil, with a focus on mechanical cultivation and the quality of the raw material. In the winery, the aim is to preserve precision, depth and the wine’s potential for development, without forcing the character of the grape variety.
La Colombera’s wines offer a clear expression of the Colli Tortonesi: white wines characterised by structure and finesse, capable of combining vigour, savouriness and complexity, alongside reds that reflect the local winemaking tradition. The defining characteristic remains that of a regional, recognisable and consistent production, built around the authenticity of the Tortona landscape.
