Lino Maga
Lino Maga’s identity is inextricably linked to the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, in Lombardy, and in particular to the Broni area, where the name Barbacarlo denotes a historic site for local viticulture. The producer’s identity stems from a direct relationship with vineyards of strong character, situated on well-exposed slopes characterised by tuffaceous and stony soils, which lend the wines a deeply terroir-driven character. In this context, the area’s traditional grape varieties – including Croatina, Uva Rara and Vespolina – are interpreted as part of an age-old balance, more closely tied to the vintage and the vineyard than to a uniform technical model.
The approach to viticulture prioritises essential and respectful methods, with a focus on the raw material and without resorting to invasive practices. In the cellar too, the style remains consistent with this vision: spontaneous fermentation, indigenous yeasts, the absence of technological intervention and ageing in traditional oak contribute to preserving the wine’s energy, depth and natural complexity. The wines are characterised by a lively expression, at times slightly dynamic, with a rustic structure, savoury complexity and a capacity for evolution that reflects the nature of the terroir. Lino Maga thus represents one of the most recognisable interpretations of the Oltrepò Pavese region, founded on the continuity between the vineyard, rural heritage and expressive authenticity.
