Lorenzo Ramò
Lorenzo Ramò is a Ligurian winery based in Pornassio, in the Imperia hinterland, in an area where viticulture meets the region’s Alpine landscape and the influence of the sea. Its identity is particularly linked to Ormeasco di Pornassio, a designation of origin from the Upper Arroscia Valley and the Argentina Valley dedicated to a grape variety similar to Dolcetto, which has adapted over time to the conditions of western Liguria. Here, the vineyards occupy breezy, sun-drenched slopes, often terraced, in a high-altitude landscape that gives the wines a mountainous character, yet one not without a touch of Mediterranean flair.
The company’s history dates back to 1938 and retains a family-run, agricultural character, built around a direct relationship with the land. The work in the vineyard makes the most of a challenging natural environment, where altitude, temperature variations and ventilation all contribute to the ripening of the grapes and the aromatic character of the wines. Ormeasco is the flagship wine of the estate: a red wine with a distinct regional character, combining structure, freshness and a savoury quality that reflects its terroir.
Alongside its wine-making activities, the estate maintains a broader connection with the agricultural traditions of Liguria, encompassing olive groves, vegetable gardens and artisanal crafts. This continuity reinforces a philosophy of production rooted in rural authenticity, respect for natural rhythms and the promotion of local resources, resulting in wines that offer a distinctive reflection of the Ponente hinterland.
