Luigi Tecce
Luigi Tecce is a winemaker from Campania with ties to Paternopoli, in Irpinia, at the heart of the Taurasi DOCG region. His identity stems from a direct connection with the Aglianico grape and the hilly terrain of the Avellino area, where altitude, favourable exposures and significant daily temperature variations contribute to a slow ripening process, preserving depth, tension and character. The vineyards, spread across small plots, comprise old vines rooted in a local winemaking tradition which, in some plots, still preserves historic training systems typical of the Taurasi area.
Work in the vineyard prioritises an artisanal approach to the raw material, with a focus on the vitality of the soil, the health of the grapes and the continuity between the landscape, the vintage and the wine. In the cellar, the approach remains consistent with this philosophy: the winemaking process seeks to work with the Aglianico without taming its structure, enhancing its tannins, acidity, aromatic depth and potential for development. The result is wines with an intense, terroir-driven profile, often characterised by an austere structure, a compact body and an expressiveness that evokes the mountainous, inland nature of Irpinia.
Within the Taurasi wine scene, Luigi Tecce embodies a winemaking philosophy deeply rooted in Paternopoli, where the power of Aglianico is expressed through wines of character, recognisable for their balance between noble rusticity, precision and fidelity to the terroir.
