Maccario Dringenberg
Maccario Dringenberg is based in San Biagio della Cima, in the heart of western Liguria and the Rossese di Dolceacqua appellation. Its character stems from a borderland landscape, close to France, where the inland valleys slope down towards the sea and viticulture is characterised by steep slopes, terraces and working conditions typical of Liguria. The vineyards are tended entirely by hand and trained using the Provençal alberello method, a choice consistent with a terroir that limits the use of mechanisation and demands a direct relationship with each vine.
The Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC is the heart and soul of the estate: a historic grape variety from the far west of Liguria, capable of expressing different nuances depending on the exposure, soil and location of the vineyards. The focus on Additional Geographical Units reinforces this interpretation of the territory, highlighting wine-growing areas traditionally recognised for their identity and vocation. The winery interprets Rossese in a style characterised by precision, elegance and a deep connection to the terroir, favouring fragrant, fresh wines that become progressively more mineral as they age.
Wine-making without the use of oak helps to preserve the distinct character of the grape variety and the landscape. The result is a wine that is recognisable for its aromatic finesse, Mediterranean vigour and territorial coherence, representing one of the most original expressions of Ligurian red wine.
