Producers/ Mario Schiopetto
Mario Schiopetto
Mario Schiopetto is a leading figure in the Collio Goriziano region, in Capriva del Friuli, where viticulture thrives on breezy hillsides and ponca soils – a Friulian soil type composed mainly of marl, clay and limestone components of Eocene origin. The producer’s identity took shape in the 1960s around a concept of white wine that was innovative for Friuli Venezia Giulia at the time: technical precision, respect for the grape variety and a clear understanding of the terroir. Within this context, Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Malvasia, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio and Ribolla Gialla share a common character defined by aromatic clarity, freshness and balance.
The agricultural approach emphasises the observation of the soil, the climate and the behaviour of the plants, with a focus on manual harvesting and the ripening of the grapes. Sustainability is integrated into a vision of harmony with the environment, through the mindful use of resources, low-impact practices and energy solutions that also involve the recovery of plant materials.
In the winery, the approach favours the use of stainless steel and the control of temperature and oxygen, choices designed to preserve purity, structure and varietal character. The wines thus offer a contemporary interpretation of the Collio: elegant, terroir-driven whites that combine composure, personality and a natural inclination towards finesse.
