Miani
Miani is a leading producer in the Colli Orientali del Friuli region, based in Buttrio, in the province of Udine, one of the most suitable areas in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The hilly landscape, close to the Slovenian border and influenced by the breezes and the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, promotes full ripening whilst allowing the wines to retain their freshness, tension and aromatic definition. The local soils, often described as ‘Friulian ponca’ and comprising marl, limestone and sandstone components, are central to the character of the wines, which combine textural depth with a mineral character.
Miani’s identity stems from an extremely selective approach to viticulture, focused on the quality of the raw material and the full expression of each plot. Work in the vineyard prioritises low yields, rigorous selection and careful management, with agricultural practices designed to respect the natural balance. Alongside Friulian grape varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, there is also room for international varieties such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot, interpreted with a strong sense of terroir.
In the cellar, the approach remains minimalist and non-interventionist, with fermentation and ageing processes designed to preserve concentration, purity and precision. The white wines are characterised by density, briny energy and structural freshness, whilst the reds display depth, ripe fruit and an elegant texture. Within the Friulian wine scene, Miani embodies a rigorous and distinctive vision of the Colli Orientali, founded on carefully selected grapes, terroir and measured expression.
