Producers/ Montenidoli
Montenidoli
Montenidoli is situated in the hills of San Gimignano, in Tuscany, in a landscape overlooking the Chianti Classico region and characterised by a mix of woodland, olive groves and vineyards. The producer’s identity is closely linked to Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG, interpreted as a regional white wine capable of expressing structure, body and depth without losing precision. The natural environment is crucial: on the lower slopes of the hill, the light-coloured, sandy and calcareous soils, rich in marine sediments, form the foundation for the white wines; in the higher areas, red, mineral-rich and rocky soils come to the surface, which are particularly well-suited to Sangiovese.
The approach to viticulture is based on strictly organic, certified farming practices and a direct connection with the vitality of the soil. Nurturing natural fertility, the use of compost and respect for seasonal cycles define a production philosophy that prioritises balance, the autonomy of the vine and an understanding of the terroir. In the winery, technical choices remain tailored to the raw material: Vernaccia can be vinified with skin contact, with the free-run juice fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees, or with fermentation in wood, according to different yet consistent interpretations. The result is wines with a distinctive profile, often rich, dry and persistent, with herbaceous notes, hints of almond and a pronounced salty and mineral character.
