Monteraponi
Monteraponi is a Tuscan producer based in Radda in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, where the rolling countryside combines woods, olive groves and vineyards in an intimate and naturally sheltered setting. The heart of the estate lies within an ancient medieval village, a feature that reinforces its connection to the local agricultural history without overshadowing its contemporary winemaking identity. The high altitude, southerly aspect and protection from northerly winds create conditions conducive to slow ripening, with a strong focus on the freshness and expressive precision of the Sangiovese.
Certified organic viticulture and a focus on traditional local grape varieties – in particular Sangiovese, alongside Canaiolo and Colorino – guide Monteraponi towards an essential and consistent interpretation of Radda. The winemaking process favours spontaneous fermentation, concrete tanks and measured intervention, avoiding the imposition of artificial aromas and allowing the character of the raw material to emerge. Ageing also follows a restrained approach, utilising concrete tanks and large oak casks according to the wines’ specific needs.
The style is characterised by bright profiles, colours that are not overly intense, lively acidity, a fine tannic structure and hints of red fruit, flowers, spices and savoury notes. Monteraponi interprets Chianti Classico with a traditional yet distinct sensibility, highlighting the natural elegance of Radda and a distinctive character rooted in balance, transparency and a true reflection of the terroir.
