Orsolani
Orsolani is a Piedmontese producer based in San Giorgio Canavese, in the heart of the historic Erbaluce di Caluso region. Its identity stems from a long-standing connection with this native grape variety, which it regards as the quintessential expression of the Canavese region and its winemaking tradition. The company’s history, which began in the late nineteenth century, is today reflected in a philosophy that combines respect for the land, craftsmanship and a focus on the wine’s character, without separating the agricultural aspect from the cultural heritage of the region.
The setting is the morainic amphitheatre of Ivrea, a landscape of glacial origin that characterises a significant part of the Canavese region. Here, the morainic soils, the hillside exposures and the foothill climate all contribute to producing grapes with natural freshness and a bright profile, in keeping with the Erbaluce variety’s character. Orsolani makes the most of this raw material with an approach aimed at preserving the varietal characteristics, prioritising careful vineyard management and measured interventions in the winery.
The declared agricultural practices aim to reduce the impact on the environment through the use of organic fertilisers, low-impact treatments and manual labour wherever possible; in the winery, too, the use of oenological products is kept to a minimum. The result is a distinctive style, centred on precision, freshness, vibrancy and a true reflection of the terroir, which showcases the Erbaluce di Caluso as one of the most characteristic wines of northern Piedmont.
