Producers/ Palladino
Palladino
Palladino is a Piedmontese winery based in Serralunga d’Alba, in the heart of the Langhe and the Barolo appellation. The producer’s identity stems from its close connection with a terroir particularly suited to Nebbiolo, where favourable exposures, a microclimate ideal for the vine and predominantly calcareous-clay soils contribute to wines of structure, depth and expressive precision. The winery’s identity is linked to the traditions of the Langhe and a careful understanding of the differences between the vineyards: San Bernardo, Ornato and Parafada reveal different nuances of Serralunga, ranging from tannic vigour to minerality, power and finesse. In the vineyard, the focus is on manual work and meticulous management of the raw material, with the aim of bringing healthy grapes to the winery that are capable of expressing the character of the terroir. Vinification follows a measured approach: soft pressing, long fermentations in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, and the use of concrete tanks for malolactic fermentation and for ageing the Barolo before it is transferred to oak. Ageing in large French and Slavonian oak casks accompanies the evolution of the reds without overpowering the nature of the grapes. The result is a style consistent with Serralunga d’Alba, centred on Nebbiolo, its tannic structure, freshness and a clear expression of the terroir, capable of combining substance, elegance and the distinctive character of the Langhe.
