Pantaleone
Pantaleone is a producer from the Marche region, based in Colonnata Alta, near Ascoli Piceno, in a valley that combines natural protection, good air circulation and a strong Piceno identity. The vineyards are situated in a hilly landscape arranged like an amphitheatre, with south-eastern exposure and an altitude that favours marked temperature variations between day and night. This climatic balance contributes to the aromatic profile of the grapes and underpins a style in which freshness, aromas and terroir play a central role.
Organic farming is an integral part of the estate’s approach: work in the vineyard is geared towards preserving the natural balance of the site, with a focus on the relationship between the environment, the soil and the raw material. The soils are described as loam-clay, with the presence of clay – some of it very compact – a factor that contributes to the soil’s nutrient-holding capacity and the distinctive character of the wines.
The range of grape varieties showcases varieties associated with the Piceno and Marche regions, such as Pecorino, Passerina, Montepulciano and Sangiovese, alongside Grenache. In the winery, the approach remains consistent with the aim of preserving the clarity and character of the terroir: fermentation takes place primarily in stainless steel, with different technical methods used for whites and reds. The result is a range of wines recognisable for their balance, expressive purity and connection to the rolling hills of the Ascoli area, where the environment and organic viticulture combine to define Pantaleone’s identity.
