Piero Brunet
Piero Brunet is a Aosta Valley winery based in Morgex, in the highest part of the Aosta Valley, where the vines grow in an alpine landscape characterised by the proximity of Mont Blanc and the constant interplay between altitude, light and significant daily temperature variations. Its geographical reference is the Vallée d’Aoste Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle appellation, a historic expression of the municipalities of Morgex and La Salle and of the indigenous Prié Blanc grape variety.
The vineyards are cultivated using ‘heroic’ viticulture methods, on terraces and low pergolas – traditional systems designed to protect the vines and promote ripening in mountainous conditions. The presence of ungrafted vines, made possible by the cold climate and alpine soils, helps to define a rare and distinctive viticultural heritage. The management of the raw material prioritises hand-harvesting and a careful approach, consistent with agri-environmental measures aimed at minimising interventions in the vineyard.
In the winery, a minimalist approach to Prié Blanc prevails: white vinification, temperature control and ageing in stainless steel result in a crisp, taut and luminous profile. The wines are characterised by freshness, delicate aromas, fruity and herbaceous notes reminiscent of the mountains, lively acidity and a subtle minerality. The result is a recognisable Alpine style, true to the terroir and capable of subtly conveying the unique nature of viticulture in Morgex and La Salle.
