Pieropan
Pieropan is a historic name in the Soave Classico region, in eastern Veneto, deeply rooted in the hilly landscape surrounding the village of Soave. Its identity stems from the interplay between the appellation’s traditional grape varieties – in particular Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave – and a mosaic of soils comprising volcanic rock, basalt, limestone and marine-derived clay. This dual geological character helps to define white wines with a crisp profile, capable of combining freshness, savouriness, aromatic precision and expressive depth.
Viticulture is carried out under a certified organic regime and makes the most of the hillside vineyards in the Classica area, with manual harvesting and careful selection of the grapes based on their ripeness. In the winery, the approach favours measured interventions: gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation, the use of vitrified concrete tanks to preserve the fruit’s tension and purity, and ageing on fine lees where this helps to impart complexity and structure. In some wines, the measured use of oak complements the natural richness of the Garganega grape without overshadowing its terroir-driven character.
The Pieropan style is characterised by balance and consistency: floral and fruity aromas, hints of citrus and almond, a distinct mineral note, and a dry, harmonious and persistent palate. The winery interprets Soave Classico as a wine of the terroir, focusing on the relationship between the vineyard, the soil and the native grape variety.
