Podere Le Cinciole
Podere Le Cinciole is situated in the hills of Panzano in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, in an area of Tuscany where viticulture is closely linked to an understanding of the soil and the continuity of the landscape. The name evokes a historic locality in the area, whilst the estate’s winemaking identity is built on a very direct relationship between the vineyard, the raw materials and the winemaking process. The vineyards are situated at altitude, with exposures predominantly facing east and south-east, on clay-limestone schist soils resting on pietraforte; the weathering of these components gives rise to galestro, a key element in the character of the wines.
The farm is run according to an organic approach that has evolved over time and is seen as a responsibility towards soil fertility and the balance of the ecosystem. Vine management prioritises unpruned vines, living soils, organic soil improvers and pest control relying on essential interventions, with the moderate use of copper, sulphur and natural preparations. This approach, which aligns with a regional and sustainable viticulture, aims to bring out the distinctive character of Panzano without allowing technical interventions to overshadow the character of the terroir.
The grapes come from the estate’s vineyards; they are harvested by hand and vinified using spontaneous fermentation. Sangiovese plays a central role and is vinified in a style that seeks clarity, depth and fidelity to the Chianti Classico tradition. The use of concrete and traditional oak accompanies the wines’ development without weighing down their profile, promoting balance, freshness and a precise expression of the terroir.
