Salvatore Molettieri
Salvatore Molettieri is a Campania-based winery with deep roots in Montemarano, in the heart of Irpinia, one of the municipalities historically included within the Taurasi DOCG appellation. The producer’s identity is built around Aglianico, a grape variety that finds one of its most distinctive expressions in this region thanks to the hilly terrain, slow ripening and a natural environment characterised by significant daily temperature variations. Montemarano’s reputation for Irpinia reds is reflected in wines of structure, depth and ageing potential, in which the grape itself plays a central role.
The winery’s approach prioritises work in the vineyard and a careful analysis of the characteristics of the local soils and microclimates. Hand-harvesting – often carried out late in the season, in keeping with the Taurasi tradition – and the careful selection of grapes help to define a style characterised by concentration, balance and a distinct sense of place. In the winery, the use of controlled winemaking techniques allows the fruit to express itself without distorting its character, maintaining a clear link with the estate’s agricultural roots.
The wines are characterised by intensity, savouriness and the potential to develop over time, with a profile that evokes the vigour of Irpinia’s Aglianico and the distinctive character of Montemarano. Salvatore Molettieri is thus a leading figure in the Taurasi and Irpinia wine-growing regions, embodying a local tradition interpreted with consistency, rigour and a focus on the quality of the raw materials.
