Producers/ Speri
Speri
Speri is a long-established producer from the Veneto region with deep ties to the Valpolicella Classica, a hilly area north of Verona where viticulture benefits from the protection of the hills and the moderating influence of Lake Garda. Its identity stems from a direct relationship with the vineyards and the region’s grapes: production is based exclusively on grapes from its own vineyards and on native Valpolicella grape varieties, including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara and other local varieties.
Agricultural work plays a central role in defining the style. The entire production is certified organic, and the approach in the vineyard prioritises soil fertility, biodiversity and the preservation of the local ampelographic heritage, including the revival of historic varieties. This focus translates into an understanding of the terroir that seeks continuity between the soil, climate, ripening of the grapes and the precise expression of the wines.
A hallmark of Speri is the emphasis placed on individual vineyards: as early as the 1970s, the producer began vinifying grapes from different plots separately, interpreting the differences between the terroirs before this approach became commonplace in Italy. The result is a style faithful to the tradition of Valpolicella Classica, based on balance, depth, the integrity of the fruit and a distinct sense of place, with particular attention paid to the appellations that have made this area of Veneto famous.
