Tenimenti d'Alessandro
Tenimenti d’Alessandro is a winery based in Cortona, in south-eastern Tuscany, and more specifically in the hills of Manzano, where the local winemaking tradition has been given a fresh interpretation through Rhône-origin grape varieties. Since 1967, the producer has helped shape Cortona’s winemaking identity, with research focused primarily on Syrah and Viognier – varieties which, in this area, have shown a particular affinity with the environment, light and soil composition.
The natural environment is one of the most distinctive features: the Cortona area combines warm, sunny days with significant night-time temperature drops, whilst the Pliocene-era sedimentary deposits, containing clay, sand and silt, foster wines with a distinctive character, capable of combining Mediterranean ripeness, freshness and aromatic definition. Certified organic cultivation, in place since 2016, reinforces an approach based on the balance of the vine and the enhancement of the terroir’s expression.
In the winery, the focus is on preserving the fruit’s identity, drinkability and depth, with technical choices that distinguish the more immediate interpretations from the more complex and structured ones. The cultural reference to the tradition of the Northern Rhône thus intertwines with the character of Cortona, giving rise to wines with a precise, spicy and luminous profile, in which Syrah plays a central role without losing its connection to Tuscany. The result is a coherent, terroir-driven and contemporary style, built on the relationship between grape variety, soil and climate.
