Tenuta di Capezzana
Tenuta di Capezzana is a historic landmark in Carmignano, in the hilly area of the province of Prato, where viticulture has coexisted for centuries with olive groves and the Tuscan agricultural landscape. The presence of vines at Capezzana has been documented since 804, a fact that links the producer to one of the region’s oldest winemaking traditions. The estate’s identity is expressed above all in Carmignano, a Tuscan appellation with a distinctive character, based on the blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet, with the addition of other grape varieties permitted by local tradition.
The production approach emphasises continuity between agricultural heritage and a contemporary focus on the vineyard. The cultivation is certified organic and is based on practices designed to preserve the vitality and biodiversity of the soil, such as grass cover, the use of legumes to naturally enrich the soil, and agronomic management aimed at reducing compaction. In the winery, careful selection of the grapes, the use of indigenous yeasts and meticulous winemaking aim to maintain the link between the raw material and its origin.
Capezzana’s wines embody Carmignano with a distinctive profile: the Sangiovese brings freshness, vigour and crisp fruitiness, whilst the Cabernet contributes structure, depth and spicy notes. The result is a robust yet balanced Tuscan style, capable of combining energy, elegance and a clear expression of the Carmignano hills.
