Tenuta di Carleone
Tenuta di Carleone is situated in Castiglioni, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, in one of the most distinctive areas of the Sienese Chianti Classico. The project was launched in 2012 and centres its identity on an essential interpretation of Sangiovese, a grape variety that finds a particularly suitable environment here to express finesse, vigour and a precise sense of place. Radda occupies a ridge-top position within the appellation, with a generally cool climate, extensive woodland and a complex geological structure featuring limestone, alberese, galestro and clay or sandy components, depending on the specific plot. This natural mosaic favours wines with a slender structure, lively freshness and an aromatic profile that is more taut than opulent.
In the vineyard, Tenuta di Carleone applies organic and biodynamic principles, prioritising careful management of the raw material and a direct connection with the character of the terroir. The winery follows a minimalist approach, aimed at preserving the vitality of the fruit and the distinct character of the vintage rather than producing heavy-handed wines. The result is a consistent style, centred on transparency, refined tannins, gustatory tension and depth without excess. Within the Chianti Classico landscape, Tenuta di Carleone interprets Radda through a contemporary yet deeply rooted lens, bringing to the fore the elegant rusticity of the terroir and the natural expressiveness of Sangiovese.
