Tenute Rubino
Tenute Rubino is an Apulian wine producer based in Brindisi, in the Alto Salento region, where the vineyard landscape meets the intense light of the Adriatic and a Mediterranean climate that fosters full ripening and distinct aromatic profiles. Its identity is linked to the promotion of the region’s historic grape varieties, with a particular focus on Susumaniello, a black grape variety deeply connected to the Brindisi area and regarded as a distinctive expression of local viticulture.
Work in the vineyards takes place across various areas of Salento, with agronomic choices designed to allow each grape variety to interact with its native environment. Alongside Susumaniello, varieties such as Negroamaro, Primitivo, Malvasia Bianca and Ottavianello are cultivated, viewed not merely as part of the region’s viticultural heritage, but as tools for expressing the diverse nuances of southern Puglia. The Apulian ‘alberello’ training system forms part of this vision to revive and safeguard the region’s agricultural heritage, complemented by cultivation and management practices designed to preserve the balance and quality of the raw material.
The style of the wines aims to convey a recognisable Salento character: ripe yet well-defined fruit, structure without excess, Mediterranean freshness and a flavour profile that remains true to the soil, climate and tradition. Tenute Rubino thus offers a contemporary interpretation of the Brindisi region, based on the revival of native grape varieties and on winemaking that remains true to Salento’s most authentic character.
