Producers/ Tiberio
Tiberio
Tiberio is a producer from Abruzzo based in Cugnoli, in the Pescara hinterland, in a hilly area situated between the Apennines and the influence of the Adriatic Sea. The vineyards are situated at altitudes that favour significant daily temperature variations and gradual ripening, on limestone and mixed limestone-clay soils which help to produce wines characterised by tension, precision and mineral depth. The winery’s identity is linked to the recovery and promotion of biotypes and mass selections of native grape varieties, with a particular focus on Trebbiano Abruzzese, Pecorino and Montepulciano.
The vineyards comprise mature vines and very old plots, including some of the region’s oldest examples of Trebbiano Abruzzese. This viticultural heritage is central to a production philosophy that prioritises territorial expression over sheer power, focusing on the quality of the raw material and respect for the vintage. In the vineyard, the approach prioritises the vine’s natural balance and a careful assessment of the different growing environments, whilst in the cellar, interventions are measured and designed to guide the wine’s development without imposing anything upon it.
The style of Tiberio’s wines is characterised by clarity, freshness and varietal character, with whites that combine vigour and complexity, and reds that interpret Montepulciano with restraint, depth and a true reflection of the terroir. Within the Abruzzo wine scene, the producer represents a consistent and recognisable voice, built upon the central role of historic grape varieties and the expressive precision of the Cugnoli terroir.
