Vie di Romans
Vie di Romans is a producer from Friuli Venezia Giulia based in Mariano del Friuli, within the Friuli Isonzo DOC area and, more specifically, in the Rive Alte region. Its identity stems from a very close relationship between the vineyard and its place of origin: the work focuses on understanding the differences between plots, microclimates and soils, so that each wine retains a recognisable link to its place of origin.
The area is characterised by its proximity to the Isonzo River, its location between the Adriatic Sea and the foothills of the Alps, and the convergence of different air currents. The Bora, a cool, dry wind, contributes to significant daily temperature variations and slow ripening, whilst the alternation between continental and Mediterranean influences lends depth to the climatic profile. The soils, formed from ancient alluvial deposits, contain gravelly and clayey components, with reddish hues due to the presence of iron oxides; this soil composition is central to the winery’s understanding of the territory.
In the vineyard, the approach prioritises vegetative balance, close monitoring of individual plots and meticulous management of the raw material. The separate vinification of wines from different origins, declared as a defining choice, allows us to preserve the expressive purity of the vineyards and to highlight the nuances generated by the interaction between grape variety, soil and climate. The style of the wines is based on precision, controlled ripeness, aromatic definition and the ability to combine richness and tension, with a character strongly linked to the Isonzo landscape.
