Vigne Surrau
Vigne Surrau sees north-eastern Gallura as the source and benchmark of its work, in a landscape close to the Costa Smeralda where the sea, wind, sun and granite rock have a distinct influence on the character of the grapes. The vineyards are situated in the Arzachena area and also include the valley from which the producer takes its name, with predominantly sandy soils derived from the weathering of granite: a terroir that favours wines with a luminous, savoury and well-defined structure. Vermentino plays a central role in the estate’s identity, in harmony with the Vermentino di Gallura DOCG appellation, an expression of a territory where the sea breeze and the mistral help to preserve aromatic freshness and precision on the palate. Alongside this grape variety, the estate also cultivates Sardinian red grapes and a number of international varieties, grown with the aim of interpreting the character of the different plots whilst maintaining territorial coherence. The winemaking approach combines care for the raw material, careful selection of the grapes, artisanal sensitivity and the use of technologies geared towards clean expression. Sustainability is presented as an integral part of the agricultural philosophy, linked to the protection of the Gallura landscape and its biodiversity. The result is wines recognisable for their balance, natural expression and a salty, Mediterranean character that directly evokes Sardinia’s coastal, granite-rich landscape.
