Vinicola Cherchi
Vinicola Cherchi is based in Usini, in north-western Sardinia, in the Sassari area where viticulture is nestled amongst valleys and limestone hills, olive groves, vegetable gardens and pastures. The agricultural landscape of Logudoro helps to define a distinctive production profile, based on grapes that accurately reflect the bright, breezy and Mediterranean character of this part of the island.
The winery’s identity centres primarily on expressing the character of Sardinian grape varieties and the Usini terroir. Vermentino di Sardegna DOC forms an essential foundation, interpreted with a focus on the freshness, aromatic clarity and savoury notes characteristic of the island’s terroir. Alongside this focus on white wines, Cagnulari plays a distinctive role: a historic grape variety from the Sassari area, it finds one of its most representative growing areas in Usini and offers a glimpse into the inland Sardinia – fragrant and structured – which differs from the island’s most immediate stereotypes.
The winemaking approach showcases local raw materials and maintains a direct link with the region’s winemaking tradition, whilst retaining a clean and contemporary expression of the wines. The result is a style centred on balance, varietal character and territorial consistency, in which fruity, floral and mineral notes interact with a well-balanced structure. Vinicola Cherchi thus expresses a Sardinia that is distinct and deeply rooted in its place of origin, helping to establish Usini as a benchmark for Vermentino and Cagnulari.
