Adanti
Adanti is a historic winery in the Montefalco area of Umbria, based in the village of Arquata, near Bevagna, in a hilly landscape long associated with the cultivation of vines and olive trees. Its identity was forged in the 1970s through a commitment to promoting Sagrantino and the region’s wine appellations, with an approach that combines traditional continuity with technical expertise. The vineyards are mainly situated between Arquata and Colcimino, in a setting where clay, sandy and limestone soils help to impart depth, structure and distinct nuances to the grapes. The area’s cool, continental climate favours slow ripening and allows the red grape varieties – particularly Sagrantino and Sangiovese – to express themselves clearly, alongside varieties historically present in the area such as Grechetto. The stated approach to viticulture prioritises respect for the vine’s vegetative balance, soil care and a reduction in interventions, with organic cultivation and a focus on environmental sustainability. Manual operations in the vineyard, from pruning to the selective harvesting of bunches, form a central part of managing the raw material. In the winery, the style aims to express the personality of the terroir through wines of character, capable of combining intensity, elegance and ageing potential, whilst maintaining a recognisable Umbrian character and a particular adherence to the tradition of Sagrantino di Montefalco.
