Agnanum
Agnanum is a winery rooted in the volcanic hills of Agnano, on the edge of the Astroni Nature Reserve and in the historic heart of the Campi Flegrei. Here, viticulture is shaped by a landscape with a distinct character: steep slopes, terraces carved out over time and volcanic soils that require predominantly manual labour and constant attention to the vines’ water balance. The Campi Flegrei appellation particularly showcases Falanghina and Piedirosso, which are locally associated with sandy soils, breezy exposures and a coastal environment shaped by its volcanic origins. Agnanum’s approach prioritises careful management of the raw material, with meticulous selection of the grapes, limited yields and harvests timed to ensure full ripeness. In the cellar, a traditional approach prevails, designed to preserve the character of the grapes and the distinctiveness of the terroir rather than to standardise their expression. The wines thus display a profile consistent with the Phlegraean area: whites with savoury tension and Mediterranean freshness; reds with a subtle, fragrant and mineral character, always imbued with a perceptible volcanic note. Agnanum embodies a demanding and deeply territorial style of hillside viticulture, capable of conveying in its wines the connection between soil, slope, maritime climate and the agricultural heritage of the Campi Flegrei.
