Alberto Giacobbe
The Alberto Giacobbe Winery is a Lazio-based producer with ties to the Ciociaria hills, with its roots on the San Giovenale hill and vineyards spread across Paliano, Piglio and Olevano Romano. Its identity stems from an inland area south-east of Rome, where the vineyard-covered landscape is home to some of the region’s most recognisable appellations: Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, Cesanese di Olevano Romano DOC and Passerina del Frusinate IGP. In this context, Cesanese is the flagship red wine, whilst Passerina represents the white wine side of local production, offering a more accessible expression.
The winery specialises in grapes from its own vineyards and carefully selected raw materials, with a focus on consistency between origin, grape variety and appellation. The sun-drenched hills of Paliano, Piglio and Olevano Romano offer favourable conditions for ripening, contributing to wines that seek a balance between terroir, expressive purity and varietal character. Here, Cesanese is interpreted in keeping with the traditions of Lazio, combining fruit, structure and the character of the hills; Passerina del Frusinate, on the other hand, offers freshness and a more fragrant profile, whilst remaining firmly rooted in the Ciociaria region.
Within the regional wine scene, Alberto Giacobbe is one of the producers who keep alive the link between family-run viticulture, historic appellations and the promotion of the grape varieties of southern Lazio, with a style rooted in the provenance of the grapes and the continuity of the terroir.
